Last updated: December 10, 2025

Our Commitment

RareConnect is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to ensure we provide equal access to all users.

Conformance Status

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities and more user-friendly for everyone.

While we strive to adhere to the accepted guidelines and standards for accessibility and usability, it is not always possible to do so in all areas of the website. We are actively working to increase the accessibility and usability of our site.

Accessibility Features

RareConnect includes the following accessibility features:

  • Keyboard Navigation: All interactive elements can be accessed using a keyboard. Use Tab to navigate forward, Shift+Tab to navigate backward, and Enter or Space to activate buttons and links.
  • Skip Navigation: A "Skip to main content" link is available to bypass repetitive navigation and jump directly to the main content.
  • Semantic HTML: We use proper heading hierarchy and semantic HTML elements to ensure content structure is clear to assistive technologies.
  • Form Labels: All form inputs have associated labels to help users understand what information is required.
  • Color Contrast: We aim to maintain sufficient color contrast ratios between text and backgrounds to ensure readability.
  • Focus Indicators: Visible focus indicators are provided for all interactive elements to help keyboard users track their location on the page.
  • Alt Text: Images include alternative text descriptions where appropriate.
  • Responsive Design: Our website is designed to work across different screen sizes and devices.

Known Limitations

Despite our best efforts, some content may not yet be fully accessible. Known limitations include:

  • Some PDF documents may not be fully accessible to screen readers
  • Some older content may not meet current accessibility standards
  • Complex data tables may be difficult to navigate with assistive technology

We are actively working to address these limitations and improve our accessibility.

RareConnect is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:

  • Screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver)
